August 29th
Well after a few days of the shakes and a lot of
worrying Damiens seems to have finally come round...He still has a bit of the wobbles but it is nothing like he has been like
the past few days..The smiles are back and he is reaching out for things again , especially his brothers bottle.At the moment
we are waiting for his cardiologist Prof. Menahem to come and have a talk with us...hopefully its to discuss the next plan
for Damiens heart.He seems to think that there is still somthing that we can do, which is a lot better than just having him
for just a few more years...The plan for today is the removal of his nasal gastric tube as he is tolerating all his bottle feeds and always wants more...There are talks of Damien having a ct scan just to
check that all the effects of the drugs have not done any damage...
We had heard from the neurologists that the reason for his tremours
was a 'movement disorder' caused by premmie babys that have had chronic lung disease and that that could have popped up at
anytime in his life when his respiratroy system was stressed..
So far no one has bought that reason not the docters up in his
ward or the cardiac surgeons...In fact it was the cardiac surgeon that requested the cat scan to find out the reason why this
was happening...I mean u would think that after having his lungs fill with blood,have half a lung collapse and being put on
the echmo would have been enough stress but it didnt happen than...
Anyway like i said he has come round alot , his heart
rate is down again and he is not breathing so hard anymore....and also his fever has stopped too ...Poor little guy he has
had so many drugs pumped thru him that it could have been a reaction to any of them being combined with somthing else...
All we gotta pray for now is that he doesnt pick up any more
'bugs' from here...and then maybe just maybe we can all come home soon...
I cant wait to see our doggies reaction when he see's that we
have brought home another playmate for him....Nicky hasnt meet Adrian yet and i know he misses Damien and us (although i know
he is getting spoilt rotten at his Grandparents place)....
