After a nearly week in Intensive care Damien is back up in the ward.He
is still being sedated to make sure he gets some sleep , Which means Amanda is back staying nights with him here in the hospital...They
are taking a little extra care with him this time and keeping a closer eye on him...He has had most of his lines taken out
except for one line which they use to give him his 'drugs'.The plan is just to keep him calm and settled and see how he goes.There
is no plan to do any surgery for his bronchal problems at this stage as he was breathing on his own at home.Doctors
are hoping that as he grows the tubes will grow with him and hopefully strengthen as well.
He is only getting 33mls an hour feeds at the moment but hopefully at some
stage today they will get him back on his bottle feeds.
He is looking better than what he did before he went down to 'ICU' but everyone
agrees that he has looked much better than he does now.Theres not much to do but wait and keep a close eye on him and hope
he doesnt pick up anymore infections.Yesterday was 6 weeks that he has been here and it definitly shows on him and us...He
has had enough and is very sad as opposed to his usual 'rages' that he does....but then again he is still getting
sedated to stop him getting too excited...
Its just sad that he has missed out on the last 6 weeks of life , and just
before he was starting to try to walk as well...this all will definitly set him back a fair bit...He gets weighed today as
well so that at least is somthing for the day...
